Haley Wilson Lemmon sits down with us today to discuss the Joseph Smith translation of the Bible. Haley worked with BYU Professor Thomas A Wayment in looking into what possible sources Joseph Smith used in his Bible translation. The major discovery here was that Joseph Smith “direct borrowed” or plagiarized heavily from Adam Clarke’s Commentary in order to carry out his Bible translation. Thank you for this excellent podcast. I agree we need to alter the definition of the word ‘translate’ now in relation to Josephs efforts. We have the plagiarism of the JST from Adam Clarke’s work, but we also have the plagiarism of the Book of Mormon from ‘The View of the Hebrews’, ‘The First Book of Napoleon’ and ‘The Late War between the United States and Great Britain’.
